World Information:
Set in a modern-day Japan. An evil man created the perfect heart and fragmented it into two: the Andro and the Gynous. Because these pieces exist, they are drawn to people and possess them, giving these two the illusion of love as the pieces fight to reunite with each other. As these pieces begin to bloom and grow, they turn their chosen vessels into monstrous chimaeras, in which if they successfully join, it could mean irreparable and vast amounts of damage to the nearby surroundings. In order to counteract this, a bureau called Thanatos' Sin rose up to combat these Andro and Gynous seeds and prevent them from reuniting. Many from the bureau have supernatural abilities to give them a better advantage in combat against the chimaeras. They remove the seeds of Andro and Gynous and return the false lovers to their normal lives.

Personal History:
A villain named Meran had developed a single seed that he split into two parts: Andro (which came to reside in males) and Gynous (which came to reside in females), embedding them in bodies at random. Human love fuels the seeds and causes them to sprout, making the seed desire to be whole once more and blossoming after a week of incubation. A completed AndroGynous, however, will spell disaster as it creates a whole monster that will destroy everything within its entire region. A branch, Thanatos' Sin, arose with the ability to stop the Andro and Gynous from blooming and achieving completion, restoring the mishap-ed lovers to their former selves with their memories washed of their time when the Andro and Gynous were active.

Aki Kurona was born about fifteen years before this without knowing his father and grew up with a single mother who always told him she loved him. However, Aki always felt like he was competing with her super long list of boyfriends, always wondering if she loved him more. Despite this feeling of competition, Aki's mother was the most important person to him and he wants to support her, even as she goes on to keep dating progressively rich men. Aki would constantly get into aggressive fights at school, usually because other students would call his mother a prostitute, and he came to be viewed as a delinquent for his rash actions.

Aki considered strongly dropping from school after being significantly bullied. However, when a teacher comes to talk to him and encourage him to continue his schooling, even being one of the only people to say something nice of his mother, he follows his mother's advice to smile instead and resolves to return to class. However, when his arrival ushers hisses of hatred from the other students, the teacher re-confronts him and tells him it's better if he doesn't come to school after all. He realises then that the teacher was only doing it to make herself look good and bolts home only to find that people are throwing away all of the belongings in their house and learns that his mother abandoned him for her rich lover.

This broke him and he ended up living in the streets, stealing money from drunkards to survive. A girl in a wheelchair, Nobara, finds him on the street and, after learning he has nowhere to go, she drags him back to her hospital room and forces him to eat parts of her meals so that he'll stay fed. Smitten, Aki buys her a bag of stuffed animals, and wishes to trade places with her because he knows she doesn't have long to live. Unfortunately, he is under the possession of one of the seeds. When Aki begins to treasure her more than himself, his Andro begins to activate and moves to consume Nobara's core. But when Nobara asks him to never forget her, he manages to force the Andro to recede to try and save her, although he had consumed 30% of her Gynous. The branch sweeps in and captures Aki, telling him that Nobara has died. Meanwhile, in another part of the lab, Nike is given Orunis' Gynous Core to sync with. It somehow manages to resonate with Aki's core, and due to this, the branch allows them to work together, destroying AndroGynous, in order to raise Nike's synchronisation with Orunis' core. However, Aki continues to mourn his love for Nobara, devastated that those he brings down are just like himself and Nobara. Unable to cope, Aki ends up suppressing his memories and begins calling himself Terris. Terris and Nike have been working together for a year and a half up to this point, defeating and collecting Andro and Gynous alike.

A schoolgirl named Tsuyuri has ideals for a boy who is gentle, smart, and wears glasses. However, when she makes eye contact with the delinquent boy, Kanro, their sleeping Andro and Gynous seeds begin to activate, pushing the two towards each other. Terris transfers to their school under the guise of a student named Yamada, who would otherwise meet Tsuyuri's ideal. However, despite all efforts to push her towards Yamada, she still chooses Kanro. However, as the two believe their love to be more and more true, they get aggressive towards others for saying their pairing seems unusual for them. Kanro gets violent towards one of his friends, and Tsuyuri shoves eclairs in Yamada's face. Kanro and Tsuyuri seek each other out, and when Kanro confesses his feelings, his Andro activates, turning him into a gigantic, cat-like monster. It insists that it join with Tsuyuri's Gynous, but that's when Yamada reveals himself as Terris, jumping in to shove the monster back. Terris carries Tsuyuri to safety, promising to stop the monster from absorbing her. He summons a black wing from his back that becomes his scythe. Upon seeing this, Tsuyuri begs Terris not to kill Kanro. Terris clarifies that he doesn't kill people, just the love they have for each other. He strikes Kanro in the heart, reverting him to his human form as Kanro drops lifelessly to the ground. Infuriated in the belief that Kanro is dead, Tsuyuri begins to transform. Terris tells her that he has to kill her love, too, explaining their love is fake. But Tsuyuri declares it is true love and that they'll remember each other after Terris eliminates her Gynous. Nike absorbs the Andro, Gynous, and the two's memories of each other by extension. Terris reports the mission success to the Bureau, watching to see if Kanro and Tsuyuri do remember each other, perhaps in the glimmer to see if true love does exist. But Terris was right: They completely forgot each other, returning to their normal lives.

Mei is a plain-looking girl who is scared of boys and afraid she'll never find love. However, in a moment when she has a run-in with some guys, she finds a rather pretty button on the ground. As she tries to find its owner, she finds Terris eliminating another AndroGynous pair. Fearing that she's witnessed a murder, she runs for help and crashes into Sawa, causing his notebook to get crushed by a passing car. Mei panics and offers her notebook to replace his, but Sawa asks her what happened. They go together to look for the murderer, but nothing remains of them, not even bloodstains. Even so, Sawa offers to protect her from the murderer, insulting Mei's friends for not protecting her. Sawa researches and finds similar accounts to Mei's from other users online, which only seem to be rumours. As Mei's friends try to encourage her to get a better protector, Mei sulks off as she ponders over the button she found. Terris walks in and sits next to her, telling her that Sawa said to protect her until he got back. Mei feels threatened, especially since Terris was able to tear the phonebook's cable off. Terris leans in close, asking for Mei to return his button with a smile, then asks her if she saw him strike the girl through. Mei becomes terrified and asks if Terris is going to kill her too. He grins and says, "I'm gonna murder you." Just then, Sawa steps in, holding his notebook between Mei and Terris' faces. When Sawa asks who Terris is, he answers, "Criminal or love rival. Which sounds better?" Sawa grabs Mei and runs with her. In private, Sawa's Andro begins to activate, admitting his jealousy and feelings. He becomes a blended chimaera and lunges to devour Mei. Terris jumps in, slashing with a transformed blade on his hand and carries Mei to safety. Nike is taken in by Mei's cute rabbit stockings and says she wants them, causing Terris to panic and telling Nike for the fifth time to go hide. Nike's toy rabbit grows bigger and bites Terris from the waist up, making Terris take it back. As Terris pulls himself from the rabbit's jaws, he explains to Mei about the AndroGynous seeds. When Sawa catches up, Terris makes it quick, restoring Sawa to his original, unconscious self. Igniting Mei's fury, Terris pierces through her before she can transform. Mei believes their love to be true, and Terris asks if she wants to make a bet before she falls unconscious. Nike absorbs the seeds and as Terris calls in the completion of the mission, he frowns as he says that love has never existed in the first place.

A boy, Andou, quits the track team and finds a group chanting to a Black Goddess (believing that those they've seen become overtaken by Andro and Gynous are this goddess). There, he meets his Gynous, Hanamaki, and joins the group for her. After the location is confirmed, Terris dons his disguise of Yamada and joins the Black Goddess religious group as well. Kodama, Andou's friend, finds Andou after he's quit the track team and tries to tell him to rejoin. When she sees Andou and Hanamaki's feelings for each other, she becomes jealous. Nike points out that Kodama isn't possessed and asks if it's true love, then. Kodama later desecrates the cult's meeting place and offers to help them clean it up, pretending she doesn't know who did it and flirting with Andou the whole time. Hanamaki hits Kodama and runs off; when Andou joins her, she gives Andou a charm for Andou to rejoin the track team. Their Andro and Gynous begin to bloom, with Hanamaki becoming the monster first, a gigantic frog. Despite the obstacles, Terris is able to make quick work of the Gynous before it merges with Andou's Andro, then disposes of the Andro as well. Weeks later, Kodama is visiting Andou in the hospital, and when he asks her if she was the one who gave him the track charm, she lies and says that she is. This makes Terris just laugh, telling Nike it's not love at all and true love can never exist in this world because all love is selfish.

Live idol Longlekkah Lily (Riri) has a huge fanbase as an underground singer. She recognises one of her regular, long-time fans, Miyaji and their Andro and Gynous begin to resonate. With Terris pushing them, their attraction grows, and Riri throws away her idol dream to be with Miyaji. While Terris pokes at Miyaji to coax his Andro to bloom, Nike approaches Riri because of her rabbit backpack. Unfortunately, Riri is the one to transform first into a massive, doglike mole, and Nike gets badly injured. Terris dives in as quickly as he can, but with Miyaji's Andro about to activate, he's in a very tight spot. Unable to destroy the Gynous' core as he tries to tend to Nike, the Andro blooms as well. Terris fights as best as he can, but with his concern over Nike and being cornered by both an Andro and a Gynous by himself, he finds himself quickly overwhelmed. As the Andro and Gynous begin to merge, Terris can only scream for them to stop. Thankfully, Hiera (another Agent from Thanatos' Sin) and Fon (his robot) intervene, stopping them from merging.

After the incident, the bureau discusses how much longer they plan to let Terris live, since he is their valuable sample of an Andro that absorbed most, but not all, of its Gynous while Hiera and Fon clean up Terris' mess. After they're done, Terris rushes to the unconscious Nike's side. They all head back to Thanatos's Sin where Terris waits for Nike to become repaired. Nike's arms were both destroyed, but her core is fine. Terris is relieved to hear that Nike will be alright. At the bureau, Terris is thoroughly bullied by most, especially for causing such extensive damage with his mistakes on this mission. Along with this and being told that Nike should not sustain any more damage due to Terris' irresponsibility, Terris resolves to distance himself from Nike and handle the Andros and Gynous' on his own.

When Junpei and Yuuna, two bakery workers, are the next infected, Terris works for them as Yamada. There, he meets someone who knew him back in high school: Arata. Arata has feelings for Yuuna, but suppresses them in order to make Yuuna happy. He even goes out of his way to get Junpei and her together, which causes Yuuna to have feelings for him as well. Terris very much so dreads Arata revealing him and plays it off that they just must look similar. He later runs to the bathroom and tries to will his memories of his life as Aki to disappear. Hiera tells Terris that the Andro and Gynous seem to be getting ready to bloom in only a day and a half, which is highly unusual and concerning. Arata manages to prove that Junpei has feelings for Yuuna and he pushes them together, wishing them happiness. This confuses Terris, and he presses Arata to admit it's to get Yuuna for himself. When Arata denies it, saying his own happiness is trivial compared to Yuuna's happiness, it sends Terris into a state of shock, distracting him from his current mission. Terris later finds Yuuna trying to tear out the Gynous core from herself, but Junpei's Andro activation, becoming a giant spider, draws her in. Arata interrupts Yuuna's transformation due to her feelings for him. As she falls into a pit, he sacrifices himself to save her, throwing her to safety as he falls into the pit himself. Arata saying that Yuuna is more important than himself stirs Terris' memories of his first love. Arata's sacrifice causes Terris to break down into denial. An ambulance is called, but the AndroGynous cores that Nike was about to absorb become stolen by the Humanoid Androgynous team.

Terris begins to bury himself in his work, distancing himself as far as he can from Nike to keep her protected, all so they won't have to return to the branch for her repairs. He's quick to finish and doesn't play around as much, and always asks for the next mission right away, but his demeanour seems to become more maniacal. However, when they ask for him to come back to the Bureau, he angrily says he'll just look for the cores himself, since he's able to sense them. On the streets having barely slept for twenty three days, he finally collapses from emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion. His body begins to seep with his incomplete Andro core, and the worry from the Bureau is that it will eventually begin to affect Nike, who bears her own Gynous core in dormancy. He keeps forcing his memories of what Arata told him and everything before he became Terris. As his core tries to take over, Eto from the bureau saves him in time from an activated Gynous and destroys it. Eto then turns to Terris and tells him that they're going on a date and he needs to get changed. Terris only protests a little, but eventually goes along with it.

The 'date' is on the top of a hospital, with the two of them playing a happy couple. Terris says it's his first time on a date. Eto had brought him to the hospital to see Arata's recovery, and the fact that Arata and Yuuna are still dating with love in their hearts. Terris is immediately angry and tries to leave. When Eto stops him, Terris says that he's 'breaking up' with Eto, but he forces Terris to watch the entire interaction, trying to show Terris that true love does indeed exist. Terris continues to try and run away from the conversation and his feelings. But when Eto corners him, Terris admits in his pain and rage that he doesn't know how to love because no one's ever loved him; they've only ever loved him to get something they needed from him, to better their own lives. He says it's tiring to have genuine affection and that's why he would rather not think about these things at all. Eto tells him to seek to understand himself, because he's sure he'll find love there. When Terris notices something that Nike would love, Eto tells Terris that he's a better guy than he gives himself credit for. This seems to restore some of Terris' sanity.

The Branch has discovered that the Andro and Gynous have been mutated to bloom faster and the discovery of two human Andro, in which the cores become the host's heart completely. Destroying the core of a humanoid Andro means death for the host. Terris stops trying to distance himself from Nike. When Nike wants to hold Terris' hand, Terris hesitantly reaches in return, only to get his arm sliced off by Meran. Meran recognises Nike, calling her Orunis, due to her inactivated Gynous core being the partner to Meran's Andro core. Meran's arrival causes a simultaneous activation of multiple Andro and Gynous in the area. Meran impales Terris, leaving him to die. This however causes Terris to remember Nobara, his first love, activating his own, incomplete Andro core. He regenerates his arm and takes on a new physical form of a humanoid Androgynous. His transformation sparks Nike's synchronisation to 100%.

The humanoid Andro Terris says it absorbed Aki's feelings all this time gave birth to his form, regardless of its incomplete AndroGynous. However, his body begins to dissolve under it. Thanatos' Sin stands by in order to let Nike's core activate, in the hopes that their experiment will stop all AndroGynous entirely. Nike goes to Meran, and Meran asks her to accept his love. She almost willingly does, until she sees the collapsing Terris, and she rushes to him. Terris talks with the remnants of Nobara within himself, wondering if he should give up. He asks if their love was real. She promises their love was real, that he won't forget because love is a miracle. Nike reaches him through his mental state and says that he doesn't have to be scared anymore, that she'll remember everything for him. When Meran tries to destroy her, he finds that Orunis' body is not her own, but the robot that Nike is. Nike tells Meran that they will both die right here, rejecting Meran's love, and creating metal walls and wrapping them both in order to self-destruct with him. Terris returns to his former self, and tries to save Nike, breaking through the metal and wrapping his arms with her, admitting his love for Nike. He rips Nike's Gynous core from her and pushes it to Meran. Meran finds that Terris has lost his Andro core, but still remembers Nike, proving that it's true love. Terris tells Meran that love is a miracle before the self-destruct completes. He pulls Nike away from the explosion to save her. As he holds Nike's lifeless body, he cries, promising he will remember everything for both of them. Nike gets reconstructed by Terris' request, but is unable to retain any of her memories of all that happened.

Six years later, a vaccine for AndroGynous is created to prevent them from taking root. Thanatos' Sin becomes a police branch to help the cases of AndroGynous that were now made public. Aki takes his name back, no longer being Terris. Aki continues to work with Nike, still in love with her, even if she can't remember him from that time. Nike recognises a memory when Aki holds a rabbit, and she says she will remember everything for him, remembering her time with him as Terris. Aki cries, overjoyed that she somehow was able to remember him. And the two get ready to head back to Japan to visit the people at the Branch. The end.


Personality:
Terris wholeheartedly believes that true love does not exist; anyone who ever falls in love does it for selfish reasons, to satisfy themselves and themselves alone. And this is, of course, especially true when these couples are possessed by the Andro and Gynous. Terris is used to abandonment, and so the times in which those who have their memories erased never keep them because that love is never true are results that are expected for him. His mission is to always prove that love is fake.

That being said, he has some sort of curiosity if it's possible that true love can exist, even if it argues with everything he's come to know. When people say they won't forget each other because their love is true, he does watch and wait to see if they can somehow retain those memories and break from the mould. But he is never disappointed when he finds that "true love" to be fake.

The one time he sees someone deviate from his beliefs that love is only greed, in which that person sacrifices themself to save the one they love, it causes Terris' world to shatter - he's confused, seeks to know more, and this eventually leads to him exploring his feelings as he painfully relives his life of abandonment to the point where it starts to impact his work. He remembers his first love and wishes for it to have been true. However, love has left a very bitter taste in his mouth and he struggles against these emotions for as long as he is able, until the Andro overtakes him to reunite with a Gynous.

Despite Terris' bitter and indifferent feelings towards love, he tends to handle things with a very carefree smile. He has very little problem telling people what they want to hear to spark their feelings or else be very harsh and cruel to fuel that jealousy and anger. How he reacts to others is loosely on a case-by-case basis. But to those who aren't possessed by the Andro or Gynous, he tends to be kind and reliable should he need to interact with them. Even to a girl who's jealousy fuels her to attempt to destroy the relationship by a possessed pair, he is kind enough not to reveal her deeds of sabotage, though he easily could. And even at the end as she continues to lie in order to get the guy she likes to like her back after his Andro is destroyed, he watches simply with amusement.

Terris has some surprisingly dramatic reactions due to certain stimuli. He surprisingly hates being nicknamed weirdly, such as when Andou kept abbreviating his club title (Local TV Comedian) to Lo-Com. Although he already took offence to his title, the abbreviation aggravated him even more, causing him to pause as he demands to know what exactly about him looks anything like a Local or a Comedian. Or when Nike called him out for being late, he behaved in a way of shock and began yelling at how he's sorry because he couldn't wash the creme from the eclairs out. When his dramatics persisted, Nike's rabbit bit him, and he calmed down, apologising for his rudeness. He is also easy to be provoked into anger when he's accused of manipulating others for their favour (Such as wearing torn clothes to garner Gura's (Thanatos's Sin's "Big Sister"; and is male) favour after he failed a battle, which was never his intention.)) He quickly goes on the defensive and yells at others to prove his point.

When backed into a corner about his feelings, he attempts to withdraw and become solitary. When denied that, he begins to lash out, pushing others away, and becoming maniacal and reckless. Even further than that and he'll start screaming that he can't be loved, and therefore he doesn't know how to love back. It's a painful breaking point for him. Terris finds trying to show genuine affection exhausting and hates it, because he feels like affection from others is only fake. However, he admits the fact that he hasn't formed any bond with Nike in all the time they've been together makes him a horrible person. Meaning he's aware of his harshness, and probably prefers to keep it that way. Pushing people away is his way of keeping himself safe.

However, when Terris accepts love and his ability to give it, he becomes a supportive, caring, gentle person. He becomes selfless and helps others, wishing the best for others and bearing his happiness and sadness alike with a hope for a better future. He accepts his past, but he understands he can grow and still be happy, even with everything that's happened to him. He reclaims his original name: Aki Kurona.

Overall, Terris is friendly, but distant, putting on different masks to survive with his past and to cope with his present. Whatever those masks are, it's in order to best make due with the situation, get his desired results, and move on without being fazed by the events that take place. His mask is thin and is easily prodded at, and deep down, he just wants true love to be real, but especially for himself to be loved, whether that's platonically or romantically. And that love is what will fuel him to grow, if he can recognise it.

[ ABILITIES ]
DISGUISE: As part of his line of work, Terris takes on many disguises, usually named as Yamada, to blend in with the populace and complete his work. From name, fashion, and backstory, he's able to blend in effectively.

SURVIVAL: He is able to survive on his own with anything to rely on. He adopted abilities such as pickpocketing and fist fighting to keep himself, at the bare minimum, alive. A scarcity of food and living on the streets gave him some things to not be proud of, but he uses them regardless in tight places.

ANDROGYNOUS: The following abilities are due to his incomplete AndroGynous core that will eventually overtake him, even if only temporarily. His AndroGynous form feeds off of Aki's emotions that have built up in order to become stronger and build a form to sustain his power, but that form is prematurely reached, and thus it isn't strong enough to sustain when the form emerges. The AndroGynous core is never confirmed as removed, and it is implied that Terris himself won the battle over it, becoming his true self despite its presence. His abilities both as Terris and his AndroGynous form are as follows.

• WEAPONRY: Terris can summon and morph his weapon at will. It usually emerges from his back, imitating a single wing, and becoming a weapon. While it's usually a large scythe, he can also morph it into a weapon like a blade as an extension of his arm (think something Edward Elric style, but more shadows instead of metal). His weapons don't hurt people and phase through them to destroy the crystal-residing Andro or Gynous in their hearts. It only hurts those he targets he wills it to. His weapons are literally a part of him.



• STRENGTH: He can hold his own and shove back a huge chimaera if necessary. However, being fast enough to catch them can be a bit of a task, especially if the distance is too great. He shows issues, perhaps intentionally, of controlling his strength, such as tearing a phonebook off its industrial tether cable.



• RESILIENCE: Terris can take quite a beating and bounce back from it really effectively. What would incapacitate most seems to be nothing more than a minor inconvenience for him. This is possibly due to his regeneration ability.



• DETECTION: Because of his incomplete AndroGynous heart, he is able to sense when an Andro or Gynous core is about to bloom; uses this later when the Bureau tries to refuse giving him more work.



• REGENERATION: His sleeping Andro core allows him to regenerate even missing limbs entirely, especially when fully active.
